Major RFID Pilot Launched by EPCglobal in Asia
EPCglobal has made an announcement stating their plans to assess the usage of RFID on cartons and containers that are shipped by sea between Japan and Hong Kong. The whole process is divided into two parts; the first phase will drive progress on EPCIS, continued standardization, and the use of RFID for automated customs clearance.EPCglobal says that the data that would be generated from the sea bound containers will be shared between countries and also industries.
There would be representatives form industries like apparel, logistics and transportation. Electronic Product Code Information Services or EPCIS will enable partners to transfer and share data all across the supply chain. All this would be in a standardized process and format. Till date this is the largest EPCIS test in Asia .
