Timmy’s snack and McDonald’s look at RFID payment
It has taken quite some time for the Canadian vendors to realize that the best way to a Canadian customer’s pocket is that through his stomach. The cashless system of payment adopted by McDonald’s in the United States has been a success. The company is looking at emulating the same success story in Canada.
The system will be deployed at some 1400 restaurants across the country from the beginning of 2008. The MasterCard’s PayPass readers and chip card terminals will be deployed at these stores. The system involves the use of RFID antennae and a computer chip. The use of the system will relieve the consumers from punching or swiping of the cards.
