Adhere to RFID compliance or face penalty, says METRO to its suppliers
Germany’s retail giant METRO Group is getting serious about full scale RFID deployment and all this will be happening this summer where the retailer would be equipping around two hundred locations with RFID infrastructure and it believes that its top six hundred and fifty suppliers will start shipping RFID tagged products by early next year.
METRO diligence in this regards can be judged from the fact that if METRO suppliers do not adhere to RFID compliance they would be penalized for non compliance. All this will be part of the contract between METRO and its suppliers. Its still not confirmed as to what would be the non compliance penalty but industry sources are pegging it at two euros per untagged pallet.
